KTZ and Russian Railways to join forces to create a single logistics operator

During the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan, several agreements were signed between Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) and Russian companies. One of the key documents was a strategic agreement with Russian Railways on cooperation in the field of transport logistics.

Increasing the capacity of railway crossings

Special attention is paid to increasing the capacity of nine key border railway crossings between Kazakhstan and Russia. The plans include the modernization of border stations, the introduction of digital technologies in transportation and cross-border operations, as well as the creation of a single digital space.

Digitalization of logistics and cross-border operations

Russian Railways together with KTZ will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current capacity of the junction points and adjacent sections of railways. Based on the data obtained, a program of infrastructure modernization will be developed to ensure more uninterrupted train traffic. In addition, the active introduction of digital technologies and paperless document management will continue to simplify logistics processes.

Development of the North–South international transport Corridor

Special attention is paid to the development of the North–South international transport corridor. In this regard, it is planned to create a single logistics operator, combining the efforts of Russian Railways Logistics and KTZ Express. The new structure will attract additional cargo volumes, including transit traffic on the China – Kazakhstan – Russia – Belarus route. These measures will help increase cargo turnover and strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the Trans-Eurasian transport corridor system.

Creation of a multimodal transport and logistics center in Astana

KTZ also signed a memorandum of cooperation with FinInvest, a Russian logistics group. The companies are considering the possibility of creating a modern multimodal transport and logistics center in Astana, which will increase the volume of transit traffic of Russian goods through Kazakhstan.

New logistics terminal CRK Terminal in Russia

Agreements were reached between Kazakhstan, Russia and China on the construction of a new logistics terminal CRK Terminal in the Moscow region (Selyatino station). This project is aimed at optimizing cargo transportation and speeding up the processing of transit cargo.

Introduction of a single digital platform to speed up cargo transportation

In addition to infrastructure development, the parties agreed to share a single digital platform. It will speed up cargo transportation on the Xi'an (China) – Dostyk route/Altynkol (Kazakhstan) – Selyatino (Russia) and reduce the processing time of documents.

Development of Kazakhstan's export and transit potential

All these initiatives are aimed at developing the export and transit potential of Kazakhstan, creating modern logistics routes and improving infrastructure for accelerated cargo flow between Asia and Europe.
