Kazakhstan, China and Russia create trade and logistics hub

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy “the Chinese company Xi'an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation and the leading transport and warehouse company of the Moscow region Slavtrans-Service signed an agreement on the construction of a large transport and logistics center (TLC) at the Selyatino railway station in the Moscow region. An agreement was also reached on the joint use of a single digital Platform for the Xi'an – Dostyk route./Altynkol-Selyatino”.

Significance of the project for the participating countries

The project was highly appreciated at the level of heads of state. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin, noted the importance of building a logistics center in Selyatino. He called it “one of the successful examples of cooperation in the transport sector” and stressed that this project contributes to the creation of a unified cargo transit system between China, Kazakhstan and Russia.

Creating a joint venture

To implement the initiative, a joint venture CRK Terminal was created, in which the Kazakh side owns 33.3% of the authorized capital. Financing of the construction will be carried out at the expense of replenishment of the authorized capital on parity terms in accordance with the shares of participants.

What will be built?

On the territory of the transport and logistics center, which will occupy 26 hectares, it is planned to build:

  • Multi-product warehouse with a capacity of 150 thousand pallets;

  • Multi-temperature warehouse with an area of 65 thousand square meters;

  • Container sites for 3 thousand people. TEU (twenty-foot equivalent);

  • Special storage areas for up to 10 thousand passenger cars.

Advantages of a logistics center

It is expected that the new TLC will provide end – to – end logistics “from warehouse to warehouse” on the entire route China-Kazakhstan-Russia. The project is aimed at:

  • Consolidation of Chinese and Russian cargo flows through Kazakhstan;

  • Optimization of transit routes through Altynkol and Dostyk stations;

  • Reduction of cargo delivery time;

  • Development of a multimodal service;

  • Growth of e-commerce volumes between countries.

Terms of implementation

Completion of construction is scheduled for the end of 2025. By this time, the TLC should become a key link in the China – Kazakhstan – Russia transport corridor, which will strengthen economic cooperation between the countries and create new opportunities for business and international trade.
