Home » Kazakhstan as a Logistics Bridge: Türkiye Invests $100 Million in Terminal Network
Kazakhstan and Türkiye are reaching a new level of strategic partnership in the transport sector. As part of the country's economic diversification and strengthening of its transit potential, the Turkish company "S System Logistics" plans to create an extensive network of warehouse and logistics hubs.
At a meeting in Astana, the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gabidulla Ospankulov and the head of «S Sistem Lojistik» Hussein Barlin confirmed their intention to invest about 100 million dollars into infrastructure facilities. The project's main goal is to transform Kazakhstan into a key Eurasian hub that will connect trade flows between China, Europe, and the countries of Central Asia.
The investor identified priority locations based on traffic load and proximity to international corridors:
Astana and Almaty: The largest consumer markets and hubs for air and rail transport.
Shymkent: The southern gateway for trade with Uzbekistan and further access to the markets of South Asia.
Aktau: Strategic access to the Caspian Sea within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TCITR).
The implementation of this large-scale program has already entered the practical phase. The pilot project is a logistics center based on Aliya Moldagulova Airport in AktobeThe choice of this site was driven by the city's advantageous geographic location as a major transportation hub in the west of the country, linking the northern and western regions.
The Kazakh side guarantees investors a "full support" regime. The support package includes: Simplified land allocation for construction, tax breaks and customs preferences, and coordination with regional akimats for prompt connection to utility networks.
The creation of a network of terminals according to international standards will allow:
Reduce logistics costs for local businesses through warehouse automation.
Increase cargo handling speed, which is critical for e-commerce.
Create hundreds of jobs in the regions, including highly qualified specialists in the field of IT logistics and supply chain management.
